Lillian is an emerging literary translator, working primarily from French to English. Her translation of the first chapter of Amira-Géhanne Khalfallah's Le Naufrage de la Lune contributed to the author being awarded a residency at the University of Iowa as part of its International Writing Program. She was awarded third prize in the Talkman Prize for Literary Translation (from Polish) in 2016. She volunteers as a translator and proofreader for charities and academic texts. She has also lived and worked in France as a translator of children's television shows and texts relating to the arts, for Lingua Franca, and tourism texts, for Abaque Traduction.
Lillian graduated with a BA (Hons) First Class with Distinction from the University of Cambridge in Modern and Medieval Languages, specialising in French. She also has an MPhil in Multi-disciplinary Gender Studies, for which she completed a thesis on language policy in Algeria. Throughout her undergraduate degree she gained extensive experience in literary translation, with consistent First Class results.
Lillian spends her free time reading, playing football, and thinking up names for her future cat and dog. Originally from Australia, she now lives in Cambridge in the UK.
